Sumy City

The Sumy region is situated in the Northeast of Ukraine and is adjacent on the north and east to the Russian Federation regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod. From the south, south-east and west, the Sumy region borders upon the Kharkiv, Poltava and Chernigiv regions of Ukraine.The Sumy region area is 23,8 thousand sq.km, the population is 1384,2 thousand people.

Sumy city is the administrative center of Sumy region, situated on the picturesque banks of PsyolRiver. Sumy has 354 year history, which starts from the fortress in 1655 built to defend Russia from Crimean Tatars. For today Sumy is a business and industrial center of Sumy oblast with the population of 285 thousand people and 145 sq. km. land area. 

Sumy is a city of students. More then 20 thousand students are studying in our universities: Ukrainian Academy of Banking, Sumy State University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Sumy State Pedagogical University.  Sumy has very good sport facilities. The Jubilee Football Stadium and the Olympic Sports Arena of Ukrainian Academy of Banking are the newest and the most famous. Getting to Sumy
Designated Airport

The Designated airport for the EuroHockey Indoor Women’s Club Champions Cup is International Kyiv-Boryspil Airport. The airport is located near the capital of Ukraine – Kyiv, which is approximately 300.0 km from Sumy City.

However you can also use Kharkiv International Airport, which is closer to Sumy, but for today they have international flights only with Austrian Airlines (Vienne- Kharkiv). Teams from Lithuania and Belarus can use railway to get to Sumy directly.
